5eS is a roleplaying system based on D&D 5e. It maintains the base system, but adds local variations that make games more flavorful, entertaining or playable.
[note]This rulebook is not yet complete, and 5eS is currently a patchwork of rules based on D&D 5e, not a self-contained system.[/note]
5eS's Mission
It is important to note that 5e is an awesome roleplaying system, that works very well by itself. 5eS is merely an addition to the base system, offering some attractive alternatives. This focuses mainly on the Three Roleplaying Pillars: combat, which can quickly become a slug, especially in 3rd and 4th tier play; as well as the other two pillars that are largely ignored, namely adventuring and social interaction.
5e is built around the classical idea of adventuring: parties go on short forays into the wilderness (it takes 37 days to go from level 1 to 20) and spend vast amounts of time in settlements, recuperating (it takes 75 days to create one suit of plate). Additionally, the system is strongly focused on combat: essentially are mechanics rotate around it, and even so, it scales imperfectly, and monster ratings are completely off anyway. 5eS seeks to surmount some of these problems.
Additionally, 5eS seeks to make the game somewhat more realistic, often with gritty rules. Combat should be more fluid and immersive, without a convoluted turn-based structure. The other parts of adventuring life should also get some attention.
