Digital Store ExtensionGuide
1.1.2022
The Partnership Program offers the completely free option to activate the Digital Store extension. With this, you can publish priced items to the digital store with no down payment, complete control over when and what you want to sell, large customization possibilities of article information, and only a 2.2% royalty on purchases.
As a publisher to the Digital Store, you carry great obligations. People purchase your items and trust you to be able to supply them.
Activating the Extension
If you're interested, you can simply scroll down to the appropriate block in your partnership overview. By clicking "Activate", you will immediately set up the extension. This incurs no obligations on your part, but also cannot be undone.
Thereafter, you can always access your Digital Store Hub from your account page, and control your store presence at leisure.
Using the Hub
On the left, you have a number of links, both to navigate to homepages and for information. The hub itelf is divided into three sections.
Pending Orders. When someone purchases an item, you are sent a notification by mail. Additionally, the order can be seen from your hub, and you can get additional details on it. Package and dispatch your items to the supplied address as quickly as possible, and then hit "sent" to update the status of the order.
Publications. All your items are listed here. This allows you a quick overview, notably how the stock is looking. Click "Edit" to change information about the item, update its stock, and see some more information. If you want to change its status, you'll need to get into the Hub Settings (see below).
Processed Orders. All orders you've dispatched - i.e., of status "shipping" or "delivered" - are listed here. It does not matter if an order stays on "shipping" forever, and only update a status to "delivered" if you have confirmation that it is indeed so.
Hub Settings
The "Settings" button brings you to the Hub Settings. Here, there are two sections.
Publication Status. You can change the status of your items here, and also access deleted items (if it's been less than a day). When you click the button "Toggle Selected", all selected items will be toggled between "active" and "paused". Paused items cannot be ordered; the idea is that you can spend a break of a couple weeks during which you don't have to worry about fulfilling new orders, and can then easily reactivate the items for sale.
Discount Codes. Discount codes are important in encouraging people to spend money in the digital store and can result in higher profits despite the discount. If you want to accept global discount codes - i.e., ones emitted by the Pantheon for the whole store - leave the box on ticked, and otherwise untick it.
You can also create "local" discount codes, ones that work only on your products. There are two discount modes: (a) linear, in which the code's amount in cents will be subtracted from the item, and (b) geometric, in which the code's amount in tenths of a percent will be subtracted.
You can freely delete any discount codes you've created. Note that no item is ever sold beneath its minimal selling value, so you have a safeguard against unwisely stacked codes.
FAQ
How do I go on a break?
The publication status setting exists for this purpose. Under Hub Settings, you can toggle the status of some or all of your items. If they are on "paused", no new orders containing them can be submitted, and they don't appear on the homepage.
How do I restore a deleted item?
When you delete an item, a notification pops up that allows you to undo the act immediately. Afterward, however, you'll need to head into the Hub Settings, where the "Publication Status" section lists items that were deleted less than a day ago. You can access and restore it by clicking the item's name in the list.
