House Maer'Duth was a prominent dark elven house in the Elvish Empire.

History

House Maer'Duth was a powerful drow house with land in multiple locations. Around 4'300 b. OW, the house had a land dispute with wood elven Buurma'nal on Bao-Mou.

The house and its matron mother, Sizza Maer'Duth, played a major role in the Spider Movement. It led the fashion and invested a lot of resources in the Arachnid Clergy and other spider rituals. After the rise of the Black Spider (whose emblem was derived from Maer'Duth's), the house offered much manpower and infrastructure, especially for mages.

During the Elvish War, the house gained much territory, mainly by incorporating other drow houses and using their compounds for the war and by annexing light elven land. However, Matron Sizza was putting the house's interests second to the Black Spider's, and it grew very diluted with that organization. When the matron mother grew unable to rule towards the end of the war, other houses - in the name of the Legion - took over much Maer'Duth land and infrastructure.

The house did not survive the assassination of its matron mother and the defeat of the drow. Most remaining Maer'Duth land was invaded by Mystraleth, while some other bases were used by surviving drow or sand elven groups to continue the war. Although some surface enclaves continued to use house livery and call themselves Maer'Duth, the house nether gained a new matron mother. After the end of the Elvish Wars, all of these enclaves - none of which were located on Silur - were gone.
